Staying Hydrated in the Hot Florida Sun Via Poolside
When you live in a place such as South Florida, you most likely spend a lot of time outdoors next to the swimming pool. We Floridians tend to worship the sun and there’s nothing better than spending a day lounging with a cool drink to top off the day. However, whether you’re in the water most of the time of just tanning it’s easy to become dehydrated. In this week’s blog, we discuss some remedies for you to keep hydrated even if it is winter.
Many of the country clubs in our area continue to cater to their respective residents. Consequently, it’s not uncommon they provide icy cold drinks and lemon water to keep their clients happy. Many of the concoctions and elixirs found on Pinterest can give your ideas for recipes and ways to display or serve the thirst quenching beverages.
Brazilian Water is one drink that will help cool you down that tastes crispy no matter what the temperature. Here’s how to make it:
4 Limes (washed and rinsed)
6 Tablespoons Sweet Condensed Milk
6 Cups of Water
Mix water and sugar until dissolved and chill for up to 4 hours. Next slice the limes or cut into chunks with rinds. In a blender mix together sugar water and limes. Remove any pulp and return into the blender and add the condensed milk. Serve over ice with lime garnish. Delish!
Pineapple during the winter months is just incredible. Try this seasons blend of pineapple with lime and coconut water.
4 Cups Coconut Water
¾ C pineapple
¼ C of lime juice (preferably fresh squeezed)
¼ C of sugar
Blend all the ingredients in a blender until smooth and serve over ice. Not only is this soothing it’s healthy.
Another great recipe that’s soooo easy to make is water infused with limes and raspberries. Use a container with spigot and fill it with water then slice up limes. Rinse the raspberries and add both limes and raspberries together for a spa-like drink sure to quench the driest mouth.
Any of these drinks will help you stay fully hydrated during your recreational time via poolside. If you have any other drinks you’d like to share, feel free to leave us a comment.
